About the
Creative
Dramatics Workshop
The Creative Dramatics Workshop
in Sidney,
Illinois first opened its doors in 1996,
and its first production was Robert Picklesimer's translation /
adaptation of Antigone.
The CDW has produced over 60 different shows, including:
- Five Greek adaptations;
- 15 Shakespeare plays, including Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet,
King
Lear, Much Ado
and Midsummer Nights Dream;
- Classics such as Our Town, Little Women, Little Princess,
The Crucible, Death of a
Salesman,
Lion in Winter, Three Sisters, and the Importance of Being Earnest;
- Comedies including Bedroom Farce, Twelfth Night, Arsenic
and Old Lace, Harvey, The Good Doctor
- Over 20 original scripts, including The Death of
Christopher
Columbus, Tut, and The Boy King.
The CDW is made up primarily of
teens and
youngsters. Antigone was the CDW's first film, directed by Robert
Picklesimer, the longtime Creative Director
of the Creative
Dramatics Workshop.

Directions
to the theatre
The
CDW in
Sidney, IL is a 10 minute drive from
Urbana.
- From I-74,
take the St. Joseph exit south,
and follow signs to
Sidney: 7 miles. When you reach the stop sign, turn right onto E
Main St, and left on N. White St.
- From Urbana,
take Rt. 130 south, and turn left on
County Rd 1000N east to Sidney: 5 miles. In Sidney, continue on
E. Main St; turn right on N. White St.
