The
current production at the
Creative Dramatics Workshop, MEETING MR. LINCOLN,
is a series of tales gleaned from the Urbana Public Library Rare Book Room. These include a first hand account of a boy who witnessed the very first Gettysburg address, of those who asked Lincoln personally for pardons for Confederate soldiers, of Lincoln's visits to hospitals, of Frederic Douglas who was Lincoln's guest at his second inaugural address, of a young soldier who saw Lincoln on the afternoon before his assassination and reported on the state of Washington on the night of Lincoln's death, as well as various jokes told by and about Lincoln himself. Using various readers including one portraying Lincoln himself, the CDW has performances remaining on Friday and Saturday, Feb 20 and 21 at 7:30 pm, and on Sunday afternoon, Feb 22 at 2:30. The price of tickets is still only $5.00 and reservations can be made by calling 688-2395. |
